Will my photos, videotape & slides be returned?
Yes. Everything will be returned with your completed order. Movie film will be returned cleaned and spliced onto 400 ft. reels. Video Tapes will be returned bundled in plastic zipper bags with the DVD created from each tape. Slides will be returned in your original carousels, if provided; or in white, acid-free archival boxes if the slides are loose.
What if I am unsure of my quantities?
If you aren't sure of how many photos, slides, or feet of film you have, give us a call. We can help you get a rough idea of how much you may have. If you already have a rough idea, but aren't sure it's correct, you may still add your estimated quantities to your cart, and place an order using our online checkout. When you check out, choose the "Contact Me For Payment" option instead of using a credit card or PayPal. Once we have received your order, we will give you a call and discuss your material with you, and provide you with an estimate.
How do I place an order?
There are three ways to place an order with us.
First, you may use our easy online ordering system. Pick the Video Tape, Movie Film, Slide Scanning, or Photo Scanning package that best serves your needs. Enter your quantities, and click "Add To Cart." Then complete our online checkout to place your order. You will receive a confirmation email that details your purchase, and includes directions on how to pack and ship your items to us.
Second, if you are in the Atlanta area, you can bring your material to our shop. We will discuss with you, face to face, the in's and out's of your material and provide you with an estimate. We can also ship your order once it is complete if you would like to avoid a return trip. Be sure to view our Map and Directions.
Third, you may fill out our printable order form and address label. Fill out the form with your information, and a rough estimate of your material, sign the form, and include it inside the package you ship to us. We will contact you when we receive your package to confirm your order. Click Here to download the form.
What Payment Methods do you accept?
We can accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover through our online checkout, as well as via telephone. When you checkout, we also give you the option to pay via check, or have us contact you for payment. If you have any questions about our ordering process, or if you have any difficulty, please give us a call; we will be happy to work with you.
Can I make prints from my scanned images?
Yes. We save your images as JPEG files, the most universal format. Just take your disc or USB drive to your local photo lab for prints. You can also email your image files anywhere. Online services such as Snapfish and Shutterfly can produce photos, albums and calendars from your images. Nostalgic Media does not create prints from your scans.
Can my movie films, photo and slides be included on the same disc?
No. Since each scanning and transfer service is highly specialized, we cannot mix different media onto one disc. If you send us three types of media, you’ll receive three discs. However, we do copy all digital files (including photos, slides, and MP4 files) to your USB flash drive, or external hard drive if you have purchased or provided one.
Can I have my images scanned in order?
Yes. Sort your images in stacks of 15 to 20. Wrap each stack with a rubber band. Use a post-it note and number each stack. We’ll keep the stacks in order.
How long is turnaround time?
Normal in-lab turnaround is 5 to 7 working days, a bit longer during the holidays. Allow extra time for shipping.
Will the DVD be compatible with my player?
We create our DVD's according to industry standards for Video and Data DVD's. Our DVD’s will play on nearly any stand-alone DVD player. If your DVD player was manufactured after 2001 and reads DVD-R media (the most common type), it’s likely to play the DVD. Some Blu-Ray players will not play any type of recordable media, please consult your player's owner's manual to determine compatibility with DVD-R type media.
What is the shelf life of a DVD?
We use special, archival-grade DVD’s with a manufacturer's projected life of over 100 years.
Can I submit copyright material?
No. If you do not own the copyright of material submitted, it is illegal to make copies. Any copyrighted material included in your transfer order will not be processed. Videotapes of TV programs are considered copyright material and cannot be transferred. Any photos or slides with explicit copyright information on them will not be scanned. Media containing obscene or illegal material will not be converted. No refunds are given for copyrighted, obscene, or illegal material sent as part of a purchased transfer package.
